Setting up and limiting share buttons in the Inbox
What this is about
When you open an update in the Inbox, you can act on it: pass it on by email, share it on LinkedIn, drop it into a scheduling tool. Which of these buttons appear is what you decide on the Engagement page. Without a selection, none appear.
The setting applies to the whole Workspace, not to individual people. Every member may change it.
How to do it
-
Open Engagement
In the navigation, click your Workspace name at the bottom, then Workspace settings. Switch to Engagement.
-
Choose platforms
Under Platforms there are four checkboxes: Email, Facebook, LinkedIn and X. Tick what you actually share through. What you do not tick will not turn up later.
-
Choose tools
Below that sit the scheduling tools: Buffer, Hypefury, Taplio and Tweethunter. They do not publish the update themselves, they drop it into your tool, where you finish writing the post and schedule it.
-
Check the result in the Inbox
There is no save button: every checkbox is applied at once. Open the Inbox and an update, and the chosen buttons stand in the preview.
Why some buttons are missing
The selection is an upper bound, not a guarantee. Whether a button appears on a particular update also depends on the channel type:
| Button | Appears on |
|---|---|
| every update | |
| Facebook, LinkedIn, X | LinkedIn, YouTube, RSS and X |
| Buffer, Hypefury, Taplio, Tweethunter | LinkedIn, YouTube, RSS and X |
On an update from an email newsletter, only the email button is left, even if you ticked everything. That is not a fault: a newsletter item has no public address a post could point to.
What this is not
This page connects no accounts. It only shows buttons. The actual connection to a scheduling tool is set up under Social Scheduling — only then does a post really land there.
