How often are updates downloaded?

Short Answer

Picasi checks for new updates several times a day. You can control the exact frequency for each source using the “Retrieval Frequency” setting—options range from hourly to daily.

Details

When you create or edit a source, select how often Picasi should check for new content under Retrieval Frequency. The following options are available:

  • Hourly — for sources where you need to react quickly (for example, a very active competitor on LinkedIn)
  • Several times a day — the default setting for most sources
  • Daily — for sources that rarely change (for example, a rarely used RSS feed)

Why don’t new updates appear immediately anyway?

Even with hourly checks, a new update may not yet be visible in Picasi. This happens if the check took place shortly before the new post was published—the update will then appear during the next check.

For LinkedIn sources, note that Picasi retrieves content from public LinkedIn pages. If a post is visible only to followers or only to members, it cannot be retrieved.

When does an update appear in the Inbox?

As soon as the refresh is complete and Picasi detects a new update, it appears in the Inbox folder. From there, you can save it or delete it right away.
