The focus profile — what your Workspace is about
The problem it solves
Picasi collects everything your sources publish. Whether a piece of news counts for you does not depend on the sender, though, but on the topic. A competitor opening an office in a market you do not serve is a piece of news. The same competitor with a pricing model in your core market is a signal.
The AI can only tell the difference if it knows what your Workspace is and what it is not. That is exactly what stands in the focus profile.
What it contains
Seven fields describing your Workspace: regions you work in and regions you leave aside. Your markets and segments. The topics you are about and the ones at the edge. What is ruled out. Plus two sentences of positioning.
The individual fields are in Focus profile — fields.
Where it comes from
Picasi derives the profile from whatever the Workspace reveals about itself, in this order:
| Basis | When it applies |
|---|---|
| Your context documents | as soon as at least one is uploaded |
| The profile for source suggestions | when there are no context documents yet |
| None | when both are missing; the fields stay empty |
Above the fields Picasi states which case currently applies. Nothing is invented: without a basis the fields stay empty rather than being guessed from the Workspace name.
The derivation runs by itself when you upload or delete a context document. It takes 20 to 40 seconds.
What it affects
Two things:
- Dossiers pull in the Updates that fit the focus and rank them by it.
- Summaries align with the focus instead of weighting everything equally.
The Inbox stays untouched. There you still see everything your sources deliver. The focus profile does not decide what is collected, but what rises to the top in an evaluation.
Why your corrections stay
Every field can be changed by hand. What you change is marked Adjusted by you and is overwritten by no new derivation. The AI reads your documents; you know your business.
If you do want the derived value for a field after all, you release it with Release and derive again. Picasi then derives it immediately, so that no gap appears there.
Focus profile and profile for source suggestions
Two profiles, two jobs. The profile for source suggestions describes you outwards: it goes into the search for new sources. The focus profile describes you inwards: it evaluates what your existing sources deliver.
As long as there are no context documents yet, the focus profile takes the profile for source suggestions as its basis.
