Reading the dashboard — the first look after login
What this is about
After logging in you land on the dashboard. It does not list everything that came in — the inbox does that. It answers another question: what is going on right now, and what should you look at first?
In this lesson you read the page once from top to bottom.
Here’s how to do it
-
Open the dashboard
Click Dashboard at the very top of the navigation. The heading reads Welcome to your Workspace followed by its name.
-
Read the line above the cards
On the left stands what has come in since you were last here: Since your last visit: with one badge each for new updates, reports and dossiers. Every badge is a link.
On the right stands the period all figures below refer to — Period: last week or Period: this week so far, with the two dates.
-
Look at the update of the day
The first card shows a single update from the last 72 hours. Hover over the information sign at the top right: under Why this update stands the reason this one was picked.
With Open original you read the full post at the source.
-
Read the topic of the week
The card beside it names the topic with the strongest movement, below it the number of updates, how many sources they come from and how many there usually are around this time.
Click Show these updates. The inbox opens with exactly those updates. Then go back to the dashboard with the browser’s back button.
-
Go through the week in review
It always takes the last full calendar week; the dates stand in its header. Listed are the sources that depart from their usual rhythm: More active, Quieter or New source.
-
Compare yourselves with the market
The card You and the market sets your own sources against the rest — share, change and a line over twelve weeks. At the bottom, under The market talks about this, you do not, stands what others write about and you do not.
-
Scroll to the end
Below stand the three lists Updates by topic, Updates by source type and Updates by source, with the five largest entries each. At the very bottom three tiles name your usage: Updates, Reporting, Dossiers, each with a bar and how much is left.
Result
In one pass you have seen what is going on in your market: an update worth reading, the topic of the week, the sources with noticeable movement and the gaps against the market. And you know how much of your allowances is left.
