Can I deactivate an individual channel without deleting the entire source?

Short Answer

Yes. You can disable each channel individually. The source and its other channels will remain intact.

Details

Sources and channels are separate levels in Picasi. A source (for example, “Muster AG”) can have multiple channels—LinkedIn, YouTube, RSS. You can enable or disable each channel independently.

How to deactivate a channel:

Open the source to which the channel belongs. In the channel list, you’ll see a toggle next to each channel. Click it to pause the channel. The toggle will change to “Inactive,” and Picasi will no longer fetch updates from that channel.

What happens to existing updates?

Updates that have already been fetched remain in your inbox—they are not deleted. Only new updates will no longer be fetched while the channel is deactivated.

When does this make sense?

For example: You’re monitoring a competitor on LinkedIn and YouTube. The YouTube channel has been inactive for months. You deactivate it to save on unnecessary retrieval cycles. As soon as the competitor starts publishing YouTube videos again, you can reactivate the channel with a single click.

Reactivating:

Simply toggle the same switch back on. Picasi will start fetching new updates again during the next retrieval cycle.
