Where the source suggestions come from

Why the suggestions exist

A set of sources ages: the market shifts, new competitors appear. So Picasi keeps looking on its own and suggests what it finds. You decide what becomes of it.

How a suggestion comes about

Your profile first. Picasi derives a short profile — from the name of the Workspace, from your website, from the sources you already watch: industry, sub-industry, region, language, company description. The profile locates the research; without it the AI would search in a void.

Then the research. An AI searches the web for organisations matching that profile. It works in steps: first determine the market from the customer’s point of view, then several independent search strategies, then evidence for every candidate.

Then the second opinion. A second model reviews each candidate independently of that.

Then the traffic light. Second opinion and the number of independent pieces of evidence produce green or yellow. Whatever is neither evidenced nor confirmed is not shown to you at all.

What the traffic light means

Green — the second opinion agrees, and at least two mutually independent websites back the candidate. That is the level at which a bulk accept is defensible.

Yellow — the second opinion agrees, but only one website backs it. Or the second opinion did not come back in time and there is at least one piece of evidence. Yellow means: take a look.

Evidence on each suggestion shows what the rating rests on.

The three decisions

Add source creates the source, with the usual channel detection.

Hide means: gone for now. The suggestion may return in a later round. That is the answer for “I do not know right now”.

Reject means: never again. The address goes into a permanent memory that the research excludes on its next run.

The rhythm

The first run starts right after onboarding. After that comes a cycle that stretches: after about a week, then after three, then after seven weeks, then roughly monthly.

Each run brings at most ten green and five yellow suggestions. And: if ten unhandled suggestions sit on your list, the search pauses.

The email

On weekday mornings Picasi sends the open suggestions by email, at most five per message. Each suggestion carries three links — add, hide, reject — that work without signing in.

The links are signed and valid for one week. After that they lead to a page that says so and points to the sources overview.

What the suggestions are not

  • Not a complete market overview. What is not laid out in your profile, the research will not find either. Sharpening the profile has more effect than any setting.
  • Not a rating of your competitors. The traffic light says how well a suggestion is evidenced, not how important the source would be for you.
